Whitsunday Boat & Leisure Show 2009

Watch Part 2

Airlie Beach - What a great place for a Boat Show……..
Two perfect sunny Whitsunday days saw more than 7500 people attend last year's 8th annual Whitsunday Boat & Leisure Show, at Meridien Marina Abel Point. Organised by the Rotary Club of Airlie Beach inc. the show was held on its usual date of the Queen's Birthday long weekend, turning the picturesque Queensland seaside resort into a busy scene of tourist activity.

Crowd pleasers included over 100 fishing and family recreational trailer rigs on display, Luxury vessels ranging from $50,000.00 to $3.5 million, Boat Shares, floating marinas, and Whitsunday's best bareboats, a Super Fish Tank filled with barramundi, a rock wall climbing experience for the kids and a sellout of 75 undercover stands of marine electronics, engines and accessories.

Organisers went for a quick tally up late Sunday afternoon and canvassed some of the exhibitors and are very happy to report that over $6.6 million worth of boats were sold, this figure doesn’t reflect what was sold inside the exhibition area, or how much was brought to the town for the weekend, with all accommodation and dining houses confirming a very busy weekend. A great outcome for the community as a whole.

Next years show will again be held on the Queens Birthday weekend – see you there.
